This mod is combat overhaul mod focusing on enhanced game enjoyment and ease of play. But if they're never going to find the time (as I'm sure Bethesda hoped), then perhaps I should bite the bullet and get the original (but more expensive) version.I would appreciate it if you like and endorse/vote it. I guess the best question is (and what I should've really asked): Where does the future of modding for this game lie? In SE (which present and future people will buy) or in the original (which all previous people have bought)? I don't mind playing the game some, playing the DLCs, and putting it down until folk get around to making real mods. I would 100% pick up the original edition if it were on sale, but currently if I want to buy it and all the DLC it's ~$65 and the SE is $20. I'm definitely a bit disappointed there isn't more availability for the mods currently but if I do get SE I have trouble believing that more mods won't come to it in the future. A large portion of the interest was the DLC which I never got around to playing and the improved graphics for PC (via mods) which you seem to indicate are functional. And with some effort and a good computer, it can be made to look just as good or better than Special Edition. It's got more tools available and has the mods I like the most, regardless of its occasional stability issues. If I personally had to pick one edition, I'd probably go with Classic. (For example, houses, dungeons, texture mods.) I'd recommend SE to people who aren't going to spend a lot of time modding, or who care only about mods that don't rely on SKSE. Plus, SE is more stable and looks better out of the box. On the other hand, Special Edition has plenty of mods already, many ported from Classic and many original content. There's an old version of SkyUI that kinda works in Special Edition, but not all of its features are available.

Without SKSE, many great Classic mods can't be fully ported to SE, including some of my personal favorites like SkyUI (interface overhaul that's practically essential for PC users) and Requiem (the roleplaying overhaul). Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is supposed to be in the works, but according to the website there's no estimated time frame for a beta release. The Special Edition scene is behind, yes.
